Professional Development
Rural and Community Professional Development Application
WCRGME, in partnership with WRPRAP, is pleased to provide funding for Professional Development activities designed to prepare our partner Rural and Community Primary Care physicians, staff, coordinators, and facilities for success in training future medical providers.
Eligibility
Must be a past or present awardee of Wisconsin Rural Physicians Residency Assistance Program (WRPRAP) grant funds, or a preceptor who has worked with a program that has received or is currently receiving WRPRAP funding.
Priority for funds will be given to organizations actively demonstrating a commitment to rural training and active participation in WCRGME activities.
Funds will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Customized professional development to fit the needs of your facility
Requirements
Applicants must describe how they will share and implement what they learned from their Professional Development Activity with their co-workers and facility i.e. presentation to co-workers, handout, etc.
Restrictions
Due to the number of programs WRPRAP and WCRGME supports, there is a maximum of $5,000 per year per program and $3,000 per year per person.
WCRGME holds the right to adjust this restriction as necessary.
Deadline
Applications for funding are accepted on an ongoing basis, pending available funding. Prior to submitting a request, applicants are asked to contact Jennifer Crubel to discuss proposal.
WRPRAP Grants
The Wisconsin Rural Physician Residency Assistance Program (WRPRAP) is committed to collaborating with rural health advocates, community clinicians, and residency educators throughout Wisconsin to develop educational experiences that foster understanding of, and interest in, rural medical practice among new physicians.
Grant Types:
Rural GME Operational Grants
The Rural GME Operational Fund supports quality improvement and continuation of current rural GME programs. Activities may include rural rotations, curriculum development, technical assistance for rural residency programs, and more.Rural GME Transformational Grants
The Rural GME Transformational Fund supports innovation and planning for future rural GME initiatives. These activities may include developing a new rural residency program, developing a new rural track to enhance an urban residency program, and other pilot studies associated with rural GME training positions in eligible residency program specialties.

DHS Grants
Legislation Act 20 authorized annual appropriations for two new programs to support graduate medical education. The goal of both grant programs is to create new opportunities for medical school graduates to train in rural and under-served areas of Wisconsin.
Grant opportunities are available in two categories in the specialties of family medicine, general internal medicine, general surgery, Ob/Gyn, pediatrics and psychiatry:
New Rural GME Development Grant (traditionally available annually in March)
Rural GME Program Expansion Grant (traditionally available annually in July)
